Project proposal

I will cover many elements of art such as new techniques and materials, creating a variety of pieces.  I plan to create experimental pieces such as 3d work, I will do things that I have not tried before such as plaster moulding and studio photography.

I will learn to look closely at my work, to analyse and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of my work, as I do it and it will help me to improve my skills and techniques. One example of how I will improve is in my research, I’ll use a variety of sources, and writing, Im going to widen my range of better vocabulary and write more detailed sentences. It's something I've struggled with but am getting better.

I’m going improve my art skills, in sculpting, sewing and observational drawing. I will make my work even better by experimenting with different ideas, materials and techniques.

I will start out by using a mind map to accumulate ideas for my Wessex archaeology project. I’m going to look at their website to find pictures of artifacts. I’ll also look at environmental art in relation to treasures and trash and create some artist pages as references.

When I research the client Wessex Archaeology, I’ll found out about their aims and how their work positively impacts communities and local areas. I’m going to keep the brief in mind because it prepares me for if I have clients with certain requirements.  My primary research will include items provided by Wessex archaeology from a WW2 battlefield. Seeing and feeling the objects in person will help me to decide how to use tone and texture in my work. I will record the provided objects for my work. Objects such as some bullet casings, enamel plates and mugs and bottles from Lark hill.

I'm going to use photography, ink drawings, charcoal, wire, clay, and paint to record these objects. These interest me because they have a variety of shapes and texture that I think would translate well in my work. My secondary research will include images from artists and designers who fit the theme treasures and trash such as Sophie Prestigiacomo, Rachel Whiteread, La Chhouk, Jim Dine, Martin Senn and Picasso. Artists/designers I will research for my project include Jim dine, Martin senn, Picasso and Rachel Whiteread.

Inspired by these artists I'll create work that’s sustainable and environmentally friendly by using recycled material. I will look at a variety of artists to widen my ideas and techniques.

By looking at these artists I will learn new techniques such as reduction lino cut, studio photography and idea development.
