Evaluation

I have covered many elements of art such as new techniques and materials, creating a variety of pieces. The experimental pieces such as 3d work were successful, I have done things that I have not tried before such as plaster moulding and studio photography.

The 4d stop motion animation work did not go as planned and I didn’t really enjoy it as computer animation is not my preferred art form.

I have learned to look closely at my work, to analyse and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of my work, as I do it and this helps me to improve my skills and techniques.

One example of how I improved is in my research, as I've used a variety of sources, and writing, I'm using better vocabulary and writing more detailed sentences. It's something I've struggled with but am getting better.

I have improved my art skills, in sculpting, sewing and observational drawing.

I could make my work even better by experimenting with different ideas, materials and techniques.

I started out by using a mind map to accumulate ideas for my Wessex archaeology project. I looked at their website to find pictures of artefacts. I’ll also looked at environmental art in relation to treasures and trash and create some artist pages as references.

Having researched the client Wessex Archaeology, I found out about their aims and how their work positively impacts communities and local areas.

From this I realised the importance of always keeping the brief in mind to meet the client's needs.  because it prepares me for if I have clients with certain requirements.

I was inspired by this research to convey the objects and their features in my art, to highlight the objects featured in photos that I carefully took and edited. Then translated into my 2d and 3d work.

My primary research includes items provided by Wessex archaeology from a WW2 battlefield. Seeing and feeling the objects in person helped me to decide how to use tone and texture in my work.

I chose to record the provided objects for my work. Objects such as some bullet casings, enamel plates and mugs and bottles from Lark hill.

I used photography, ink drawings, charcoal, wire, clay, and paint to record these objects.

They interested me because they had a variety of shapes and texture that I thought would translate well in my work.

My secondary research includes images from artists and designers who fit the theme treasures and trash such as Sophie Prestigiacomo, Rachel Whiteread, La Chhouk, Jim Dine, Martin Senn and Picasso

Artists/designers I have researched for my project include Jim dine, Martin senn, Picasso and Rachel Whiteread.

Inspired by these artists I've created work that’s sustainable and environmentally friendly by using recycled material.

I looked at a variety of artists to widen my ideas and techniques.

By looking at these artists I learned new techniques such as reduction lino cut, studio photography and idea development.

My developments for Trash & Treasures are split into two categories, one is a response to Wessex Artefacts and one in response to my investigations into Trash & Treasures.

For my developed piece inspired by the Wessex Artefacts; I have chosen to develop a photography piece of some bullet casings. I re shot and edited my final piece in black and white to make the picture look like it was taken during WW2.

For my trash and treasure personal development, I've explored sustainability in art, I've created pieces that play with rubbish and texture. i created some jewellery with a blue circle motif inspired by a still piece I did. i used this motif in paintings i did, focusing on the pattern and colours. i did another painting
